Engagements

We are committed to engaging with purpose with external audiences to foster trust and build understanding as the energy transition continues. The IESO’s External Relations Engagement Framework is designed to support opportunities for listening, sharing information and meaningful engagement to balance the needs of diverse communities and other external parties and collectively shape our energy future.

Stakeholder Engagement Days

During the provincial election period the IESO will be adhering to established caretaker principles for government agencies and will be pausing external engagements until the election has concluded. This means stakeholder and community engagements scheduled during this period, with the exception of those focused on the Market Renewal Program, will be postponed and external communications will be limited.

We consider the different roles of participants at different times, remembering that not every engagement fits all stakeholder and community needs, and we endeavour to clearly communicate outcomes to audiences in a way they expect and understand.

In broad terms, our engagements are designed to:

  • inform to educate, empower, build capacity, understanding and awareness;
  • involve to promote learning, elicit insights and drive towards informed outcomes; and
  • collaborate to solve shared challenges and build enduring partnerships.

One to three days are dedicated each month for engagement meetings. Topics will be grouped together where possible to clarify linkages between initiatives and support information sharing. The IESO may occasionally hold engagements outside of these days based on specific needs.

Strategic Advisory Committee and Technical Panel meetings are held at regularly scheduled intervals throughout the year.

Upcoming Engagement Meetings

Multiple engagements will be discussed over the course of these meeting dates, grouping engagements by topic to maximize stakeholder participation and create linkages and information sharing across initiatives. Participants can participate in all discussions or elect to participate in only some.
