Meetings and Materials
The Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) is scheduled to meet regularly throughout the year. SAC meetings are open to all stakeholders and community members with an interest in the electricity sector. Meetings are typically held in the Toronto area and may also be attended via conferencing service.
Meeting agendas and related materials will be posted publicly in advance of scheduled meetings. A summary of action items resulting from the meetings and related written materials will be posted publicly following the meetings.
Read the Terms of Reference that provide guidance to the Strategic Advisory Committee in the execution of their responsibilities.

2023 SAC Challenge Statements
In 2023, members of the IESO’s Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) formed working groups to address challenges and opportunities within key areas of interest and importance to Ontario’s electricity sector. Throughout this exercise, and the public discussions which took place during the 2023 SAC meetings, five Challenge Statements were consolidated and presented to the IESO Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team.
Following discussions with the IESO Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team, SAC has continued to assess the Community Alignment Challenge Statement in 2024, and further explore perspectives related to Indigenous Participation, and Municipal and local Communities. Two new challenge statements are being developed to reflect Indigenous and Municipal Participation, respectively.

2022 SAC Challenge Statements
In 2022, members of the IESO’s Strategic Advisory Committee (SAC) formed working groups to address challenges and opportunities within key areas of interest and importance to Ontario’s electricity sector. Throughout this exercise, and the public discussions which took place during the 2022 SAC meetings, four Challenge Statements emerged that were consolidated and presented to the IESO Board of Directors and Executive Leadership team. Since that time, the IESO’s Annual Planning Outlook and the Pathways to Decarbonization reports have been released, which directly relate to many of the topics and details in the Challenge Statements.
As a result, SAC will continue to assess the key areas of focus, sharpen its lens on the impact and perspectives affecting those across the broader energy sector based on new information that has been released and augment the existing Challenge Statements to reflect the changes since the Challenge Statements were finalized in December 2022.
