This engagement update provides a snapshot of all active IESO engagement activities and is updated on a monthly basis. It helps support a greater understanding of linkages between engagements, and a foundation for more comprehensive and integrated updates.
The IESO is hosting a session to inform stakeholders of proposed changes to the exemptions market manual. The proposed changes are focused on MRP readiness, with the aim of bringing the exemptions manual into alignment with MRP, and introducing a new process to allow existing exemption holders to seek amendments to their exemptions to align with the MRP set of market rules. Additional proposed changes include a general update and reorganization for improved structure and greater clarity. The IESO is seeking feedback on these proposed changes.
The IESO’s Capacity Auction team will present performance results from this summer’s capacity tests and emergency activations. In addition, discussion will continue around proposed enhancements and administrative updates for the 2025 Capacity Auction; this will include expanding participation to wind and solar resources, and reviewing commitment management options.
The IESO will host an information session on the upcoming Resource Adequacy Request for Information to be launched the same day. This Request for Information is targeted towards existing resource owners whose contracts expire within the next ten years, as well as developers interested in future projects. This session will explain how we will gather insights to help inform future energy supply procurements in Ontario.
The IESO will provide sector participants and Ontario communities with an update on the active Bulk Planning initiatives underway. The plans to be discussed at the September session include: South and Central, Northern Ontario, and Eastern Ontario.
The first hour of the meeting will provide updates on the South and Central, and introduce one new bulk plan since the June session: Eastern Ontario.
The second hour will be dedicated to updates and a discussion on the Northern Ontario Bulk Plan.
