Regional electricity planning is underway for the Windsor-Essex region. This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration during the regional planning process.
Regional electricity plans take up to a 20-year outlook on every region in the province. The planning process provides an opportunity for communities to tell the IESO about anticipated needs and priorities, and to contribute to the development of the options for meeting a region’s future electricity needs.
Interested parties in this engagement initiative include but are not limited to:
Municipalities including the City of Windsor, the Municipality of Leamington, the Towns of Amherstberg, Essex, Kingsville, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Tecumseh, and the Township of Pelee, as well as the western portion of the Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Indigenous communities including:
Aamjiwnaang First Nation
Caldwell First Nation
Chippewas of the Thames
HCCC/HDI
Oneida Nation of the Thames
Six Nations of the Grand River
Walpole Island First Nation (Bkejwanong Territory)
Local distribution companies (LDCs) who serve the community and already participate as part of the Technical Working Group, including E.L.K. Energy Inc. (E.L.K.), Entegrus Powerlines Inc. (Entegrus), Enwin Utilities Ltd. (ENWIN), Essex Powerlines Corporation (EPL) and Hydro One Networks Inc. (Hydro One)
Transmitters (Hydro One Networks Inc.)
Consumers and service providers for the area
All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative.
Windsor-Essex Region Working Group - A Technical Working Group consisting of the five LDCs in the region, the transmitter, and the IESO will use this regional planning engagement initiative to incorporate input while developing the Scoping Assessment Outcome Report for the region.
