Resource Acquisition

The related Enabling Resources Program will produce an integrated plan that will outline the sequencing, timing and scope of activities to be undertaken by the IESO to enable existing electricity resources to provide electricity system services in the renewed Ontario wholesale market that they cannot, or cannot fully, currently provide. Market integration of hybrid storage-generation resources has been identified as a priority project under the umbrella of projects within the Enabling Resources initiative.

This Hybrid Integration Project engagement will identify participation model(s) to enable hybrid resources in the IESO-administered markets (IAMs) and have the capability to support Ontario’s future system needs. The changes will be implemented after the implementation of the Market Renewal Project.

The IESO encourages all interested parties to participate in this engagement. The IESO anticipates that this initiative will be of particular interest to current and prospective market participants and resource developers, specifically storage, wind and solar.
