Following the release of the Powering Ontario’s Growth (POG) report in July 2023 and in response to the July 10 letter from the Minister of Energy, the IESO is launching an engagement initiative on the development of a Transmitter Selection Framework (TSF), a key initiative that will support the Ministry’s planned actions as set out in the POG report. As indicated in the July 10 letter, the IESO has been asked to report back to the Minister on its progress towards development of a TSF by Summer 2024.
Given the growing role that transmission will play in maintaining reliability and in driving the energy transition, the IESO will work to design the TSF as a predictable and efficient process that aligns with bulk system and regional planning.
In order to support its report back to the Minister and to advance the work on the development of the TSF, the IESO will commence public engagement with Indigenous Communities, Ontario municipalities and industry stakeholders, starting in November 2023. To support the engagement process, the IESO will post a draft engagement plan that will outline expected engagement activities, timelines and considerations for how stakeholders and communities will be engaged to advance the IESO’s efforts in developing the proposed TSF and report back to the Minister.
The engagement plan associated with the TSF development will be executed in alignment with the IESO’s engagement principles. For comments and inquiries, please contact engagement@ieso.ca
