Regional Electricity Planning - GTA West

Forecasting and Planning

Regional electricity planning has kicked-off in the GTA West electrical region to ensure a reliable supply of electricity, and to support local growth and economic development. Regional planning looks at the unique needs of each region, and considers wire and non-wire options and innovative resources to meet the needs. This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration during the regional planning process.

Regional electricity plans take up to a 20-year outlook on every region in the province. The planning process provides an opportunity for participants to tell the IESO about anticipated needs and priorities, and to contribute to the development of the options for meeting this region’s future electricity needs.

All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative and may include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities of Brampton, South Caledon, Halton Hills, Mississauga, Milton, Oakville and Burlington, and the Regional Municipalities of Halton and Peel
  • Indigenous communities that may be potentially impacted or may have an interest based on treaty territory, traditional territory or traditional land uses: Alderville First Nation, Chippewas of Beausoleil First Nation, Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation, Chippewas of Rama First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation, Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council c/o Haudenosaunee Development Institute, Hiawatha First Nation, Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Six Nations of the Grand River and Métis Nation of Ontario
