A Refreshed Approach to Engagement

As we face significant demand growth for electricity and build up the system, the IESO’s preparations to enable the electricity grid for the future is a multifaceted, complex job. It requires collaboration across an increasingly diverse make-up of partners that extends well beyond the “traditional” energy sector.
To accomplish this, the IESO has launched an External Relations Engagement Framework to ensure that many voices and perspectives are considered as we build our collective energy future. The framework includes a new commitment, refreshed principles and clear approaches that will create the foundation for strong and enduring relationships. By investing in upfront research and preparation, implementing the right engagement approach, providing tailored materials and enhancing communications, the IESO will engage with purpose and reflect perspectives from all interests, creating powerful collaborations and meaningful outcomes.
The IESO is committed to working with Indigenous communities and this awareness is reflected in the IESO Indigenous Engagement Framework, a companion to the External Relations Engagement Framework. This dedicated framework represents our commitment to enabling Indigenous participation in the energy transition, recognizing that our approach to engagement needs to reflect the unique perspective, values and history of Indigenous peoples.
