Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pumps for Income-Eligible Ontario Residents

December 7, 2023

To help income-eligible residents living in electrically heated homes lower their energy costs, the IESO—through Save on Energy and its Energy Affordability Program—is offering cold climate air source heat pumps to qualifying Ontario households.

This aligns with the IESO's 2021-2024 Conservation and Demand Management Framework Mid-Term Review, which identified heat pumps as a significant energy saving enhancement and will provide meaningful cost savings to participants most in need of assistance.

Benefits of heat pumps:

  • Directly installed by qualified professionals and at no time will the participant be out of pocket for home energy audit or installation costs.
  • Helps EAP participants reduce electricity consumption and lower energy costs, make their home more comfortable, and increase their home’s value.
  • Low-carbon technology for space heating that will also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The IESO delivers the Energy Affordability Program in collaboration with Enbridge Gas’ Home Winterproofing Program.

More information is available on the Save on Energy website and questions can be directed to saveonenergy@ieso.ca.
