Important Milestone Reached in Market Renewal Program

The final Market Renewal Program (MRP) detailed design documents are now available. This marks the completion of the detailed design phase, bringing the IESO one step closer to improving how it supplies, schedules and prices electricity to meet Ontario’s future needs. Once implemented, the program is expected to result in $800 million in net benefits in the first 10 years alone.
Beginning in late 2019 and throughout 2020, the IESO released draft detailed design documents that describe the details needed to develop governing documents, user requirements and business processes. These final documents incorporate the feedback received from stakeholders and is central to this phase of the program. A design tracker highlighting the feedback received and how it has been incorporated has been posted to the IESO website.
