DERs: The big potential of small resources

The buzz around distributed energy resources (DERs), such as solar panels, energy storage, demand response applications and electric vehicles is growing – and for good reason. As technologies improve, and DERs represent a larger portion of the system’s capacity, these resources are challenging established ways of doing things, while demonstrating the potential to deliver new services to consumers, utilities and system operators alike.
