Report provides recommendations for improving energy efficiency of water and wastewater treatment facilities
February 28, 2019
Reducing the costs associated with municipal water and wastewater treatment is the impetus behind a new report commissioned by the IESO in the wake of last year’s Municipal Energy Profile, which found water and wastewater treatment account for more than a third of the province’s municipal energy consumption.
Released today, “Market Characterization & Conservation Potential for Ontario's Drinking Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants” presents municipal leaders and water treatment facility operators with options and recommendations to reduce energy use, including operational and systemic changes, shifting energy use from peak to off-peak times and better use of existing energy saving opportunities.
