Spotlight: Community engagement to Shape Ontario’s Electricity Future
January 24, 2019
Community voices are critical in shaping decisions that support a reliable and cost-effective power system. The IESO engages with communities across Ontario to gather input on future electricity needs and community solutions to be considered to meet that need for regional electricity planning, and policy and program development. Terry Young, the IESO’s Vice President of Policy, Engagement and Innovation, will be speaking at next week’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) conference, and Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) conference on the importance of collaboration and information sharing. The IESO will also be exhibiting during the two conferences, so for those attending, please visit to discuss how to get involved.
In the meantime, hear about the value of community engagement from the perspectives of the IESO’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Leonard Kula, Terry Young and representatives from NatureFresh Farms, Sand Point First Nation, and the cities of Ottawa and Thunder Bay in this video.
