Hourly Demand Response resources added to the Emergency Operating State Control Action list

Hourly Demand Response (DR) resources that are participating in the energy market through the DR Auction mechanism have now been added to the list of available resources during an Emergency Operating State Control Action. The ability to utilize Hourly DR resources in this manner is consistent with how other resource types participate within the IESO controlled grid and enables the IESO to activate DR in the event where it is required to help mitigate emergencies.
From a stakeholder engagement perspective, members of the Demand Response Working Group have contributed directly to the development of this enhancement. The IESO continues to rely on that engagement forum to assess other important enhancements to DR resources moving forward.
The IESO is inviting stakeholders to review the proposed Market Manual changes through the Pending Changes process and provide any comments or feedback until Wednesday, March 28.
