Enabling System Flexibility engagement update

Since the last stakeholder engagement meeting, the IESO has further investigated the nature of the flexibility need in Ontario and met with other US ISOs to discuss their experiences with enabling flexibility. The IESO will announce a stakeholder meeting to take place in January 2017 to present these findings and an updated schedule for stakeholder engagement activities.
Some stakeholders indicated interest in the operability assessments that the IESO does on a regular basis. One assessment cited in the Enabling System Flexibility Stakeholder Engagement is the Operability Assessment Summary Report. This report is an assessment of our ability to effectively and reliably operate the power system utilizing existing mechanisms, including consideration for extreme conditions, looking out several years. The attached summary report is now posted on the stakeholder engagement webpage to allow participants to better understand the nature of the flexibility need on the system.
