Updated Loss Penalty Factors to be implemented on February 17
January 28, 2016
New Loss Penalty Factors will be implemented on February 17. This document gets updated yearly or whenever new facilities come into service that will add at least 500 MW to the system. The new values are available under 'IESO Historical Reports' on the IESO website at Data Directory.
Loss Penalty Factors represent the transmission losses associated with each resource (generators, loads and intertie connections). Transmission losses occur naturally when moving power from one point to another due to such factors as heating, energization and magnetization. The loss penalty factors are used in both the pre-dispatch and real-time constrained sequences.
