The stage is set for Ontario's first Demand Response Auction

Ontario's first auction, taking place on December 2 and 3, provides an opportunity for DR providers to bid their DR capacity into a competitive auction process and manage that capacity in the IESO wholesale electricity market during defined availability windows.
Seventeen organizations have registered as Demand Response Auction Participants. The capacity qualified to participate in this DR Auction is as follows:
- 625.1 MW for Summer (May 1, 2016 to October 31, 2016
- 622.8 MW for Winter (November 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017)
The auction comes after a comprehensive stakeholder engagement to move DR in Ontario forward with direct input from stakeholders.
