Regional Electricity Planning - Parry Sound/Muskoka

Forecasting and Planning

Regional electricity planning has commenced for the Parry Sound/Muskoka sub-region. This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration as the process is underway on the development of an Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) anticipated to be complete in Q2 2022.

Regional electricity plans take a 20-year outlook on every region in the province. The planning process provides an opportunity for communities to tell the IESO about anticipated needs and priorities and to contribute to the development of the options for meeting this region’s future electricity needs.

All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative and may include but are not limited to:

  • The townships of the Archipelago, Algonquin Highlands, Armour, Carling, Georgian Bay, Joly, Lake of Bays, McKellar, McMurrich-Monteith, Minden Hills, Muskoka Lakes, Oro-Medonte, Perry, Ramara, Ryerson, Seguin, Severn, Strong, Tay, Tiny, and the United Townships of Dysart, Dudley, Harcourt, Guilford, Harburn, Bruton, Havelock, Eyre and Clyde, the villages of Burk’s Falls, and Sundridge, the towns of Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, Huntsville, Kearney, Midland, Parry Sound, and Penetanguishene, the municipalities of Highland East, Magnetawan, McDougall, and Whitestone, as well as the City of Orillia

Additional details on the IESO’s plans to engage with communities and interested parties throughout this process will be posted as part of a draft engagement plan, that will be open to public comment before finalizing by early Q4 2021.

Parry Sound/Muskoka Technical Working Group- A Technical Working Group consisting of the LDCs in the region (listed above), the local transmitter, Hydro One Networks and the IESO will use this regional planning engagement initiative to consider input that will identify and meet local electricity needs.
