2016 Achievable Potential Study Completed
The 2016 Achievable Potential Study is now complete. The results are comprised of two components: an energy efficiency study (that includes both a short-term and long-term assessment of energy savings potential) and a behind-the-meter generation study. The Achievable Potential Study will be used to inform the mid-term review of the Conservation First Framework, and will be a useful tool to inform program development and regional and long-term energy planning.
The Achievable Potential Study component reports, as well as an IESO foreword and FAQs, are provided below. Note: The Achievable Potential Study energy efficiency reports have been updated since their publication on June 30, 2016.
For the purposes of developing the above study, a local distribution company (LDC) Working Group was established. In accordance with the terms set out in the Energy Conservation Agreement (ECA) between the IESO and each LDC, the Working Group was composed of IESO staff and LDC representatives from Toronto Hydro, Hydro One and ten others, with service areas in different planning regions across Ontario. Representatives of the Ontario Ministry of Energy, the Ontario Energy Board, the Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, natural gas utilities and the Electricity Distributors Association participated in the Working Group as observers.
The Working Group held regular meetings throughout the study process. Key information, including minutes of meetings, were made available on this web page to provide information and updates on the study and progress towards key milestones.
