Area Overview

The Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge/Guelph region is located to the west of the Greater Toronto area in southwestern Ontario. The region includes the municipalities of Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, and Guelph, as well as portions of Perth and Wellington counties and the townships of Wellesley, Woolwich, Wilmot, North Dumfries and the Region of Waterloo.

Regional Planning Progress Update

The first cycle of regional electricity planning is currently underway, with the completion of a Scoping Assessment Outcome Report in July 2024. Based on emerging electricity needs identified in this current cycle, a comprehensive planning approach will be undertaken to develop an Integrated Region Resource Plan (IRRP) for the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph (KWCG) Region.
