The North of Moosonee region includes the communities of Fort Albany, Kashechewan, and Attiwapiskat. From 2001 to 2003, these communities were connected to the Hydro One network. The majority of transmission in the area is now owned by Five Nations Energy Inc. (FNEI) which was incorporated in 1997.

Community Engagement

The local transmitter (Five Nations Energy Inc.) completed the Needs Screening for this planning region in June 2021 and found there were no needs requiring regional coordination for this planning cycle.
