Regional Electricity Planning - Peterborough to Kingston

Forecasting and Planning

Regional electricity planning is underway for the Peterborough to Kingston electrical region to ensure a reliable supply of electricity, and to support local growth and economic development. Regional planning looks at the unique needs of each region and considers wire and non-wire options and innovative resources to meet the needs. This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration during the regional planning process.

Regional electricity plans take a 20-year outlook on every region in the province. The planning process provides an opportunity for communities to inform the IESO about anticipated needs and priorities, and to contribute to the development of the options for meeting this region’s future electricity needs.

Interested parties in this engagement initiative include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities – the Cities of Belleville, Kingston, Peterborough, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, the Municipality of Clarington in the Region of Durham, and the Counties of Frontenac, Hastings, Lennox and Addington, Northumberland, and Peterborough.
