On March 31, 2025, the Ontario government announced the launch of the 2025 Hydrogen Innovation Fund (HIF) — a $30 million program to accelerate hydrogen projects that drive economic growth, create jobs, and support Ontario’s clean energy leadership.
Building on the success of the 2023 HIF program, which funded 15 projects testing hydrogen’s role in grid reliability and decarbonization, the 2025 program expands eligibility and places a stronger emphasis on innovation.
The 2025 HIF Call will allocate $15 million to each of two streams:
The application window will open on November 4, 2025.
The IESO encourages participation from hydrogen producers and users, Indigenous communities, municipalities, industry groups, and local partners. Interested organizations are invited to apply and explore how hydrogen can contribute to Ontario’s clean energy future.
