IESO Directed to Launch Long Lead-Time Request for Proposals

The IESO has been directed by government to launch the Long Lead-Time (LLT) RFP, which will procure new-build resources that require a lead time of at least five years, from the time of contract execution to commercial operation.
Under this direction, the IESO will hold separate procurements for energy and capacity resources such as new hydroelectric and long-duration energy storage, respectively, and offer evaluation incentives to projects that commit to sourcing a certain percentage of construction labour and materials from Canada.
The LLT RFP will launch on May 6 when the final procurement documents are posted on the Long Lead-Time Procurement web page.
