SME Surplus Rebate Settlement 2025

| June 30, 2026, preliminary settlement statement | Electricity distributors will receive a rebate reflecting the amounts from the operating surplus of the Smart Metering Entity for the year 2025. The total amount of this rebate is $636,651.40. This disbursement will be split based on the proportion of the number of smart meters installed by the Local Distribution Companies (LDCs). The rebate will be included on the June 30, 2026 preliminary settlement statement, and June 2026 invoice, both issued on July 15, 2026. The rebate will be reflected under charge type 9980 ‘Smart Metering Charge’. The Smart Metering Charge (currently at $0.42 meter/month) is levied and collected by the IESO from all LDCs identified in the latest edition of the OEB’s annual ‘Yearbook of Electricity Distributors’. This charge represents the OEB approved rate per month for residential and general service (<50kW) customers for each LDC.
