Message from the President and CEO, Jason Fitzsimmons

I am very proud to officially begin the role of President and CEO of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO).
Having worked in the sector for much of my career, I know how integral the IESO is to Ontario’s energy future, and I consider it a privilege to join the organization at such a pivotal time.
Ontario’s energy landscape is rapidly growing and evolving. As demand continues to rise, ratepayers are looking to the IESO more than ever to deliver the reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity that powers their daily lives, supports the growth and well-being of their communities, and drives economic development across the province.
The IESO is committed to delivering on this critical responsibility, but we can’t do it alone. Ontario’s electricity system is as complex and multifaceted as it is large. Only by working closely with all our sector partners, as well as governments and communities across Ontario, can we energize new growth and power new possibilities.
I am very excited to roll up my sleeves and start collaborating with our talented and dedicated IESO team, as well as partners and communities across the sector, to achieve this shared vision. The task ahead is great, but so are the opportunities. Together we will build a brighter and more prosperous energy future for Ontario.
