Message from the Chair of the Board - Jason Fitzsimmons Appointed as the IESO's New President and CEO

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Fitzsimmons as the IESO’s President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2026.
Jason brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position. Having served as both the Deputy Minister of Finance and Deputy Minister of Energy, he brings an enduring commitment to public service and to the province of Ontario. Previously, Jason served as Chief Corporate Affairs and Customer Care Officer at Hydro One and has held several other executive roles at both Hydro One and Ontario Power Generation. Throughout his career, Jason has been recognized for his transformative leadership and commitment to building partnerships across the sector.
Jason’s unique experience at the highest levels of both Ontario’s energy and public sectors will be invaluable to guiding the IESO’s critical work to build Ontario’s future-ready electricity system and deliver value for ratepayers. The insights he brings to the role will be instrumental in helping the IESO navigate the growing intersection between energy and economic policy, ensuring we continue to deliver on our vital mandate to build a brighter and more prosperous future for Ontario.
