Message from the Board Chair Organizational Update
June 11, 2026
Dear partners and stakeholders,
It is with mixed feelings that we inform you that after five years at the helm of the Independent Electricity System Operator, our President and Chief Executive Officer, Lesley Gallinger will be stepping down from the role effective August 1, 2026.
When Lesley took on the CEO position in 2021, she inherited an organization that was at a pivotal moment. Over the course of five years, she has steered us through significant transformation – expanding our generating and transmission infrastructure, overseeing the launch of our renewed energy market, strengthening our relationships with municipalities, Indigenous communities, industry stakeholders and government, and positioning the IESO as a trusted leader in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Under Lesley’s leadership the IESO has contributed to the success of Ontario’s energy future and built a culture that will drive our mandate forward for years to come.
She has set a strong foundation to build upon and our organization is well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
We are grateful for her vision, integrity and unwavering commitment to both the people in the organization and the communities we serve.
On top of her work with us at the IESO, Lesley has been a champion for our industry – from roles with Electricity Canada, the Federal Canadian Electricity Advisory Council, NERC and more.
Please join the Board of Directors and the executive team in thanking Lesley for five years of exceptional leadership. And on a personal note, I thank Lesley for helping me as I took on the leadership of the IESO Board.
A transition plan is underway, and further details regarding IESO leadership going forward will be shared soon.
Sincerely.
Ken Hartwick
Chair, Board of Directors IESO
