The IESO is updating its Electricity Demand Side Management Cost-Effectiveness Methodology with technical enhancements to better reflect the impacts of distributed energy resources (DERs) on the bulk electricity system. The IESO will share the update to its calculations through a public information session on June 16. These updates strengthen the accuracy, flexibility, and robustness of the IESO’s Cost-Effectiveness modelling capabilities, enabling:
- More precise assessment of the benefits and costs of DER measures funded through demand side management programs
- Distribution system benefit stacking for Local Distribution Company-led programs
The current methodology can be found on the IESO's website. These updates will come into effect in 2028. All relevant materials will be posted in the coming weeks and interested participants can register on the engagement page.
