Deadline Approaching for 2025 Hydrogen Innovation Fund Call for Applications

The application window for the 2025 Hydrogen Innovation Fund (HIF) Call closes on Feb. 11. All those interested in applying are encouraged to submit materials as early as possible. The IESO has streamlined Part B of the application for this round of funding and any questions about the process can be sent to the HIF program team at hydrogeninnovationfund@ieso.ca before Jan. 27.
The 2025 HIF Call aims to support pilot projects through two separate $15-million streams:
- Stream 1: Demonstration projects supporting the integration of low-carbon hydrogen into the electricity grid to increase electricity supply, capacity, or storage, which could include peak demand management, ancillary services, and long-term/seasonal storage of surplus renewable energy.
- Stream 2: Demonstration projects directly or indirectly enabling broader applications of low-carbon hydrogen, such as new industrial and transportation sector applications including innovative hydrogen fuelling infrastructure, as well as creating hydrogen “hubs” that connect producers with end users.
