IESO Sets Stage for Competitive Transmission Procurements

On July 31, 2025, the IESO launched the Transmitter Selection Framework (TSF) Registry to begin intake of transmitters interested in participating in future competitive transmission procurements.
As electricity demand grows, a significant amount of new transmission infrastructure is needed in the province. To support this expansion of the system, the IESO is launching the TSF to leverage competition and new entrants to the Ontario market to deliver better value for ratepayers; attract new investment to this province in a manner that supports broader economic growth; provide transparency around transmitter selection in Ontario; and foster innovation for transmission solutions in the long term.
The TSF Registry ensures a pool of eligible transmitters is in place so competitions can proceed efficiently as projects are identified for procurement under the TSF.
