Windsor-Essex Regional Electricity Study Posted
February 10, 2022
The IESO has released a new regional electricity planning study that recommends actions to support economic growth and development in the Kingsville-Leamington area. The final report for the Windsor-Essex Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) addendum has been posted and recommendations include:
- Two new 230 kV stations in the Kingsville-Leamington area and connection lines from the new Lakeshore Switching Station to address capacity needs
- Further exploration of measures to address load restoration needs, including a new 230 kV line between stations in Kingsville and Leamington, non-wires alternatives such as distributed energy resources, and/or distribution-level transfers
This study was an addendum to the broader recommendations of the 2019 Windsor-Essex IRRP conducted to address remaining local needs in Kingsville and Leamington, and completed in parallel with the 2021 West of London Bulk Plan. For more information, visit the engagement web page.
