Introduction to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act for Stakeholder Engagement

October 22, 2020

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requires all documentation published on the IESO website to conform to technical standards that ensure content is accessible to people with disabilities by January 1, 2021. These include IESO authored documents as well as those submitted by stakeholders through our engagement processes.

To help maintain the transparency of our engagement process and ensure that your input remains publicly available, we are requesting that all written feedback submitted through IESO engagement processes is AODA compliant. Stakeholders are encouraged to use the Feedback Forms available through individual engagements. Alternatively, stakeholders can continue to provide feedback using their own templates so long as they meet AODA requirements prior to submitting them to the IESO.  This will help ensure that our decision-making remains transparent and your input remains visible on the IESO web site.

AODA was enacted in 2005 with the purpose of improving accessibility standards for Ontarians with physical and mental disabilities to all public establishments by 2025. Additional details about AODA requirements and further changes to the IESO website and engagement processes will be shared in future Bulletins.
