2018 IESO Regional Electricity Forums registration now open

September 20, 2018

Registration is now open for the IESO Southwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum in Waterloo Region on November 8 and the IESO Northeast Ontario Regional Electricity Forum in Timmins on November 22.

This year’s forums are intended to highlight local initiatives and specifically discuss how local needs and perspectives can factor into broader provincial electricity planning through two main interactive discussions:

  • Aligning Regional and Local Energy Planning - A panel discussion on the opportunities to align planning at the system, regional and community levels, including an examination of community energy plans and how they impact local and regional planning processes.
  • Connected Communities - Tabletop discussions to encourage diverse perspectives on community-based approaches to meeting energy needs. The feedback will be collected and will inform future engagement efforts for the development of the next long term planning initiative for the region.

The regional electricity forums will bring together a cross-section of community and business audiences representing municipalities, Indigenous communities, local distribution companies, energy services companies and associations to explore and provide input into key electricity matters.

Registration is open for the Southwest Ontario Regional Electricity Forum  and the Northeast Ontario Regional Electricity Forum. Draft agendas and additional information on the forums will be posted to the forum web page. Regional electricity forums are currently being planned in the spring of 2019 for Northwestern Ontario (Thunder Bay) and Eastern Ontario (Kingston).
