IESO Quarterly Reports Released Including Conservation Progress Report and 18-Month Outlook

September 21, 2017

The IESO released its quarterly reports today, including the Conservation Progress Report, 18-Month Outlook, and Progress Report on Contracted Supply.

The Conservation Progress Report highlights the achievements of Save on Energy and other conservation programs. In Q2, the Energy Performance Program saw increased interest and participation, rewarding participants for continuous energy use reduction through conservation measures of their choice, encouraging the type of behavioural changes that foster a culture of conservation. Another highlight is the launch of the province-wide Whole Home Pilot program, which integrates a comprehensive suite of electricity efficiency measures into gas utilities’ existing programs to create a one-stop shop that improves customer convenience.

The 18-Month Outlook concludes that the outlook for the reliability of Ontario`s electricity system remains positive for the next 18 months. The report provides an assessment of resource and transmission adequacy, identifies planning activities and initiatives underway to improve reliability, and helps market participants plan maintenance outages for generation and transmission equipment.

The Q2 Progress Report on Contracted Supply provides an update on the status of the IESO`s contracted electricity supply projects and procurement initiatives.
