Regional Electricity Planning - Peel/Halton (GTA West) Region

Documents referenced on this page, but not posted, can be obtained by contacting with a link to the web page that lists the document and advise whether it needs to be provided in an accessible format. Please allow a minimum of one business day for a response.

Regional electricity planning in the Peel/Halton (GTA West) region is underway. This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration into the elements of an Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP) anticipated to be complete early 2021.

Regional electricity plans take a 20-year outlook on every region in the province. The planning process provides an opportunity for communities to tell the IESO about anticipated needs and priorities and to contribute to the development of the options for meeting this region’s future electricity needs.

All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative and may include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities of Brampton, South Caledon, Halton Hills, Mississauga, Milton, Oakville and Burlington, and the Regional Municipalities of Halton and Peel
  • Indigenous communities including the Grand River Métis Council, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the New Credit
  • Local distribution companies (LDCs) who serve the community including Alectra Utilities, Burlington Hydro Inc., Halton Hills Hydro Inc., Hydro One Networks Inc., Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. and Oakville Hydro Electricity Distribution Inc.
  • Transmitters
  • Consumers and service providers for the area

Additional details on the IESO’s plans to engage with communities and interested parties throughout this process can be found in the Engagement Plan.

Peel/Halton (GTA West) Technical Working Group- A Technical Working Group consisting of the six LDCs in the region, the local transmitter and the IESO will use this regional planning engagement initiative to consider input to develop the IRRP for the region.
