Attendees are invited to participate in any or all of the sessions. Each of the sessions will be held as a separate webinar as shown in the agenda below. Pre-registration is recommended for each of the sessions you plan on attending.

This engagement update provides a snapshot of all active IESO engagement activities and is updated on a monthly basis. It helps support a greater understanding of linkages between engagements, and a foundation for more comprehensive and integrated updates.

Adjustments to Intertie Flow Limits

The IESO is proposing to add clarifying language to the market rules specifying when internal transmission constraints will be considered by the IESO in setting intertie flow limits.

Resource Adequacy

Annual Acquisition Report: The IESO will engage with stakeholders on the 2021 Annual Acquisition Report (AAR) that was released in July, including a status of the 2021 AAR planned actions, key feedback received to date and next steps for the 2022 AAR.

Long Term RFP: The IESO will present an initial overview of the LT RFP and the key areas of engagement with stakeholders over the course of developing the parameters of the procurement initiative.

Procurement Fees: The IESO will engage with stakeholders on a proposed procurement fee setting framework, and the factors considered when setting fees, for future IESO procurements.

Capacity Auction: The IESO will present updates to performance testing procedures for capacity auction resources and provide a response to feedback received from previous engagement meetings.

DER Potential Study

The IESO and consultant will present the draft Detailed Project Plan, describing key components of the study including inputs, methodology, scenarios, and underlying assumptions for stakeholder feedback on appropriateness of these key components. A summary of stakeholder feedback and responses received from the September engagement meeting will also be presented.

IESO Summit-Lite: Ontario’s Evolving Electricity System: A Consumer Perspective

The summit-lite will focus on current trends, drivers and opportunities for various consumer segments among the power-sector. The 2021 Annual Planning Outlook which will be released later this year, includes a high growth scenario with a focus on increased demand due to economic polices and decarbonization. The IESO Summit-Lite will allow participants the opportunity to hear directly from consumers at the forefront of driving change in the power sector and how they are achieving specific energy goals, overcoming barriers and sharing what opportunities may exist for the future.
