On September 30, 2020, the Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines directed the IESO to deliver a new suite of energy efficiency programs in 2021-2024. A portion of the funding is dedicated to programs supporting on-reserve First Nation communities in implementing energy efficiency projects. The directive in its entirety can be accessed through the IESO’s Ministerial Directives web page.
The IESO is seeking feedback from communities to help inform the design of future energy efficiency programs for First Nation communities in Ontario, specifically to identify new energy efficiency opportunities for commercial and institutional buildings in First Nation communities.
The IESO will conduct a survey to begin the engagement, and then will host a virtual meeting to formally launch the engagement and solicit feedback from communities on commercial and institutional opportunities and areas of interest. Following that first meeting, the IESO will host a second meeting to address the opportunities and areas of interest identified in the first engagement, and to seek feedback from communities on the design proposal. All comments and enquiries on this engagement can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The IESO will present the detailed program design for the First Nation Community Buildings Retrofit Program and show how the design was informed by feedback from communities. This will build on the discussion in the October 22 webinar, the findings from the Energy Efficiency Opportunities for Grid-Connected First Nation communities survey, and the discussion in the November 20 draft Program Proposal webinar.
In this meeting, the IESO will present the draft program design and seek feedback from communities on program design elements. This will build on the discussion in the October 22 webinar and the findings from the Energy Efficiency Opportunities for Grid-Connected First Nation communities survey.
