2025 Capacity Auction Pre-Auction Report Now Available

The 2025 Capacity Auction Pre-Auction Report containing updated parameters such as the reference price, auction targets, and zonal limits, has been published via the IESO Reports website. This year’s Capacity Auction is targeting 1,800 MWs of capacity for the 2026 summer obligation period and 1,200 MWs of capacity for the 2026/27 winter obligation period.
On September 11, the Capacity Qualification Request submission window will open. Capacity suppliers interested in participating in the 2025 Capacity Auction should begin the market registration process as soon as possible. The updated Market Rules and Manuals reflecting enhancements to commitment management options that impact the capacity qualification period, published in advance of Baseline 54.0, can now be found on the Renewed Market Rules and Manuals Library webpage. The remaining 2025 Capacity Auction enhancements are currently going through the Technical Panel process and are anticipated to come into effect prior to the first day of the Capacity Auction.
