The IESO Board of Directors is calling for nominations for qualified individuals to join the IESO Dispute Resolution Panel. The Panel mediates and arbitrates certain disputes arising under the market rules and are delegated the authority to impose penalties and make orders and directions as specified in the marked rules.
The Panel is comprised of at least three qualified persons with experience in arbitration and mediation of disputes. Each Panel member is independent of the IESO and market participants. Panel members are appointed for a five-year term. The Honourable Mr. Dennis O’Connor, K.C. servers as Secretary of the Panel.
Qualified Panel members must satisfy the following minimum criteria:
a) A minimum of 10 years’ practice as a lawyer or judge,
b) A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an arbitrator and/or mediator in complex commercial disputes,
c) Familiarity either through experience or formal education with power systems, and
d) Experience with regulated electricity markets.
Familiarity either through experience or formal education with:
i. administrative and regulatory law, and/or
ii. accounting and audit disputes will be considered assets but are not required.
