Registration

The registration web pages provide the information you need to register your organization and/or any physical facility with the IESO.

Registration is required to verify that you meet the necessary legal, financial, and technical/operational requirements to participate in the IESO-administered markets and programs, and/or operate in Ontario’s electricity system.

Registration involves up to three tasks.

• Participant Registration - You must register if you intend to participate in the IESO administered markets and/or programs, or plan to have a physical facility directly connected to the IESO-controlled grid.

• Facility Registration - You must register any physical facility (generation, load, transmission and distribution) that will be connected to the IESO-controlled grid or that will be participating in the IESO-administered markets and/or programs. You may be required to register a facility (generation and load) that will be connected to a distribution system.

• Meter Registration - You must register all meters used for settlement in the IESO-administered markets and/or programs.

If you do not have a facility and want to participate in any IESO-administered market and/or program, only the participant registration task must be completed.

If you have a facility planning a connection to the IESO-controlled grid, all three tasks must be completed. For a facility planning a connection to a distribution system, some of the tasks may need to be completed.

If you plan to build a new facility directly connected to the IESO-controlled grid or connected to a distribution system, you may need to complete a connection assessment before you register with the IESO.
