Project: Demand Forecast Improvements 

Project Description

Introduction of new “Self-Bottling” outage purpose code in the Outage Management tool. This is to improve the accuracy of variable generation forecasts during any station outages or equipment de-rates by ensuring that the centralized forecast predicts output of the station proportionate to their available capacity but capped at a de-rated maximum.             

Who is affected?

All wind and solar generators registered with the IESO.            

Project Status

On target with implementation in production May 22, 2018.

Action Required

Wind and solar generators are encouraged to register for one of the webinars scheduled for April 16 and 19 by emailing engagement@ieso.ca and perform testing after April 12. There is no need to register for testing – please submit feedback on testing the new purpose code to customer.relations@ieso.ca.

            

Project: Dispatch Service

Project Description

Transition the tool used by market participants to accept and reject dispatch instructions from Message Exchange to Dispatch Service.

Additional information

Who is affected?

All market participants receiving dispatch instructions from the IESO (dispatchable generators and loads).

Project Status

Implemented in Production January 2018.

Action Required

Participants need to register for cut-over from existing Message Exchange to new Dispatch Service as soon as possible by e-mailing dispatch.service@ieso.ca.


Project:  Interchange Enhancements

Project Description

The IESO is planning to make changes with respect to the submission of e-Tags and the management of those transactions specifically within the mandatory window to improve the operation and management of interchange scheduling related tasks by enhancing existing interchange scheduling systems and processes.

Who is affected?

All market participants exporting electricity from Ontario and/or importing electricity into Ontario.

Project Status

Implementation in Production postponed. Date to be determined.
