Windsor-Essex Integrated Regional Resource Plan posted

September 5, 2019

The Windsor-Essex Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP), which considers electricity demand and varying supply conditions over the next 20 years, is now online.

The plan identifies new electricity system needs, particularly in the Kingsville-Leamington area, where indoor agriculture growth is leading to unprecedented demand, and makes recommendations for addressing local capacity, load security and restoration, as well as end-of-life asset replacement needs for the near, mid and long term.

While the IRRP is complete, the IESO will continue to engage with communities to explore possible solutions on the region’s existing 115 kV network, and will publish an addendum to the IRRP in Q2 2020. Further details on this engagement will follow.

For background about the study scope, and details about the Windsor-Essex electricity planning region, download the full IRRP report and its appendices.
