System enhancements coming to the Windsor-Essex region

Triggered by agricultural growth and extensive greenhouse expansion in the Kingsville-Leamington area, electricity demand in the Windsor-Essex region is expected to increase significantly in the coming years. A reliable source of electricity will be essential to support community growth in the region – powering homes, schools, businesses, hospitals, and transportation.
The IESO has requested that Hydro One initiate work on a switching station in the Leamington area. This work is one of a number of system improvements identified during the engagement, part of the Windsor-Essex Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP).
