Integrated Regional Resource Plan - York Region

A new regional planning cycle is underway for York Region. The first cycle of regional planning for the region began in 2010 and was completed in April 2015 with the release of an Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP). The next IRRP for the region is anticipated to be completed in Q1 2020.

This engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration into the development of the IRRP.

Interested parties include but are not limited to:

  • Municipalities including York Region, City of Vaughan, Town of Richmond Hill, City of Markham, Town of Aurora, Town of Newmarket, Township of King, Town of East Gwillimbury, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and Town of Georgina
  • Indigenous Communities including the Chippewas of Georgina Island
  • Local distribution companies who serve the community including Alectra Utilities Corporation, Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. and Hydro One
  • Transmitters
  • Consumers and service providers for the area

Additional details on the IESO’s plans to engage communities and interested parties throughout the process can be found in the Engagement Plan. All comments and enquiries on this engagement can be directed to engagement@ieso.ca.

York Region Working Group - A Technical Working Group consisting of the local distribution companies in the region, the local transmitter and the IESO will use this regional planning engagement initiative to consider input that will identify and meet local electricity needs. The Working Group consists of representatives from the LDCs in the area – Alectra Utilities Corporation, Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd., as well as the transmitter Hydro One Networks Inc., and the IESO.
