The St. Lawrence region covers the southeastern part of Ontario bordering the St. Lawrence River. The region starts at the Gananoque on the eastern end of Lake Ontario and extends to the inter-provincial boundary with Quebec. For regional planning purposes, the City of Cornwall is not included as it is supplied by Fortis Ontario with transmission lines from Quebec.

Community Engagement
The IESO engages with local and regional communities to seek input to help inform planning activities. There are currently no active regional planning engagement activities for this region. See Key Resources below for the latest planning documents.
The regional planning process for the St. Lawrence region was completed for this planning cycle, following a Needs Assessment conducted in September 2021 led by Hydro One Networks Inc. The participants recommended that the needs identified in the Needs Assessment did not require further regional coordination, and the implementation and execution of solutions to address the identified needs can be coordinated by Hydro One with the affected local distribution companies and/or customers. A copy of the transmitter’s 2021 Needs Assessment report can be viewed on Hydro One’s website.
The next planning cycle will begin in 2026, unless there is sufficient load growth or an event that requires it to begin earlier.
