The IESO President and CEO and Leadership Team are responsible for implementing the strategic direction and initiatives for the organization in keeping with its statutory objectives. They also provide advice and recommendations to the IESO Board of Directors.

A member of Kingston City Council since his election in 2018, Simon Chapelle currently serves on the council’s planning and policy administration committees, and sits on the board of Tourism Kingston and the Kingston Economic Development Corporation. In addition to his community service, Mr. Chapelle is a corporate director of The Chapelle Group, a consulting firm focusing on telecommunications and rural economic development.

Prior to running in the municipal election, Mr. Chapelle was a member of the Parole Board of Canada, where he implemented policy directives and made risk-based decisions regarding the conditional release of federal offenders.

After gaining governance and electricity sector experience serving on the board of Sudbury Hydro, Mr. Chapelle became a member of the Kingston Hydro board when he relocated to that city in 2014.

He holds a B.Sc. in biology from Laurentian University and a master of public administration degree, specializing in public policy, from Queen’s University. In addition to years of sales and marketing experience, Mr. Chapelle has formal training in risk-based decision making and alternative dispute resolution.
