Cynthia Chaplin was appointed to the IESO Board of Directors on January 1, 2015. Prior to that, she served on the board of the Ontario Power Authority since July 1, 2014.
Ms. Chaplin has more than 30 years of experience as an energy economist, consultant and regulator in Canada and the United Kingdom. Between 2004 and 2014, she served as a member, Vice-Chair, Chair and interim Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Energy Board. Ms. Chaplin is an expert adjudicator, having presided over more than 60 complex, multi-party oral hearings and policy consultations and having served as Chair of Canada’s Energy and Utility Regulators, CAMPUT.
Ms. Chaplin has also held senior positions with British Petroleum, Amoco and the United Kingdom's natural gas regulator. She holds a Master's degree in economics from the University of Toronto and the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
